We are looking to hire Lead Mechanical Technician for our client in KSA.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

  • Performs a wide range of duties relating to the mechanical/hydraulic installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and fixtures to ensure their efficient operation at minimum downtime complying with EHS Guidelines with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Tackles all mechanical equipment breakdowns and planned/preventive/predictive maintenance work with minimum direction and supervision within the given time constraint minimizing production downtime.
  • Technically assesses the requirement of allocated jobs and selects the necessary tools and equipment to complete the work.
  • Ensures that all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with the MA safety procedures and plant operational requirements.
  • Handles the computerized maintenance system, orders the spare parts from the warehouse, and maintains records of all maintenance work completed.
  • Monitors any repeated breakdown and recommends/completes proper modification to resolve the problems across the finishing area.
  • Responsible Area: CRU, HSM, TCM, Finishing, and Auto Sheet.
  • Should participate as a team member in the troubleshooting of maintenance issues at CRU/HSM/TCM/FINISHING AND AUTO SHEET.

  • Implements & reinforces EHS policy in the production area through words and actions.
  • Lead Technician works in the Plant and may be exposed to chemical fumes, noise, rotating equipment, mobile equipment, humidity, etc.
  • Ensures that the department EHS KPIs are fully complied with.

Production:

  • Achieves the target for production tonnage.
  • Achieves the target eAM compliance.
  • Achieves the target availability of the plant.

Quality:

  • Achieves the target quality.
  • Reduces the rejection rate.
  • Reduces the quality defects.

Management:

  • Develops and trains trainees.
  • Promotes the disciplined behavior for staff.

Detailed Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Mechanical maintenance team in shifts and reports to the Shift supervisor.
  • Any technical issue which needs further support from Mechanical Engineer is communicated immediately.
  • Any major issue/delay must be communicated to Maintenance Superintendent if the delay exceeds more than 1 hr. Communicate also, Mechanical Engineer.
  • Provides Mechanical/Hydraulics to cover the 24/7 operational needs of the plant.
  • Provides a Specialist Mechanical/Hydraulic Service to operations and engineering areas.
  • Maintains a safe working environment throughout the unit ensuring that potential hazards to people, plants, and the Environment are identified and that adequate control measures are implemented through risk assessment and appropriate control measures ensuring that Company Safety Policy is fully implemented.
  • Plans and organizes major maintenance requirements in close liaison with the operations & engineering departments.
  • Issues permit to work and LOTO-V method statements in accordance with Company safety procedures.
  • Recommends and effects plant modifications for plant immobilization procedures to ensure safe working practices, and improve plant availability, performance, and quality.
  • Identifies business and safety-critical spares for all operational plants. Manages stock levels of critical spares and repairs so that plant disruption is minimized.
  • To be the plant expert on Mechanical prime movers, drive & torque transmission systems, rotating/reciprocating equipment/components, Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems, Thermal systems, and Lubrication systems. Utilities- compressed air, DI water, hot water, chill water circulation systems, exhaust systems & trim conveying systems.
  • Investigates equipment failures using the latest techniques and initiates procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Updates eAM database to ensure secure historical data including work requests, completed work lists, preventative maintenance plans, budgetary control, plant availability & component failure rates. Promotes the use of systems across the department and ensures that personnel is adequately trained.
  • Be aware of all Health and Safety statutory requirements and ensures compliance with all operational activities.
  • Provides Engineering support to the development and implementation of programs for quality, yield, and throughput to achieve business targets.
  • Implements a preventative maintenance program utilizing the latest condition monitoring technology and initiates remedial actions prior to failure.
  • Controls local engineering records to ensure that modifications are recorded.
  • Implements and adheres to the Department's Environmental Management system (ISO14001) current systems.
  • Supports and utilizes the various skills available including production and contractor personnel, and identifies the training and development needs of the team.
  • Plans work and orders spare for remedial work to be carried out on future planned maintenance shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
  • Served a technical apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering.

Experience:

  • Have 6 years of proven experience working in a medium or large-sized maintenance engineering team.
  • Hands-on experience in installation, troubleshooting & maintenance of large mechanical drive & transmission equipment/components- gearbox, gears, shafts, couplings, clutches, brakes, chain drives & belt drives, drag chains & torque limiters, springs & suspension systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of strip path rubber & chrome-coated driven & non-driven rolls.
  • A comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in alignment, leveling & balancing of rotating equipment/components.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting & alignment of cutters, shears, coating & trimming heads & trim conveying systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of strip, steering/guiding systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in troubleshooting & rectification of roll chatter problems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & experience in installation, troubleshooting & maintenance of rotating/reciprocating equipment - pumps, compressors, chillers & blowers, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in maintenance & troubleshooting of thermal systems -combustion, equipment/components, dryer oven, exhaust & treatment systems, heat exchangers & heat recovery systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of bearings and selection, and mounting/dismounting of bearings/bearing housings.
  • Selection, substitution & handling of lubricants, coolants & hydraulic fluids.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of piping networks, conduits, hoses, and P& I components.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in filtration & circulation systems and lubrication systems & sealing components.
  • A comprehensive Knowledge & hands experience in the installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of industrial hydraulic & pneumatic components & systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & experience in the effective implementation of PM, shutdown & TPM plans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in formulation & implementation of effective maintenance improvement plans identification & elimination of bottlenecks; maximize technicians' wrench time, minimize MTTR & maintenance cost, waste elimination & energy conservation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in formulating & conducting maintenance, inventory & lubrication audits.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in conducting reliability studies & failure investigations & RCA.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in pre-task planning of rigging/lifting operations & inspection of PPE & rigging equipment/components.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in formulation & implementation of effective machine guarding plans, LOTOV & engineering controls for safety.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in engineering materials, specification, selection, optimization & substitution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in drafting technical specifications, procedures, work instructions & report writing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge & hands-on experience in implementing safe work culture.

Skills:

  • Ability & aptitude for training, mentoring & team building & gap identification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Knowledge of Company Safety, Health & Environmental requirements.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct resources (contractor and operational).
  • IT literate in MS Office products e.g. Excel, Word.
  • Capability to carry out contractor induction.
