Land surveyors determine, by means of specialised equipment, the distances and positions of points at the surface of sites for construction purposes. They use measurements of the specific aspects of construction sites, such as electricity, distance measurements, and metal structure volumes to create architectural drawings and develop construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Preparing and maintaining sketches, maps, and reports of legal descriptions of surveys.
2. Verifying data and calculations.
3. Recording results of surveys.
4. Calculating the measurements of sites.
5. Writing descriptions of property boundaries.
6. Researching legal documents, survey records, and land titles to clarify information about property boundaries.
7. Undertaking land/topographic/hydrographic/measured building surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology.
8. Analysing data using plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD and GIS (geographic information systems) programs.
9. Preparing survey drawings.
10. Presenting data to clients and writing reports.
11. Advising about technical matters and whether construction plans are viable.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. At least three (3) years of work experience in Land Surveying, but fresh graduates are welcomed.
2. A Bachelor's Degree in Surveying.
3. Willing to travel to project sites.
4. Knowledge in using software such as AutoCAD.
5. Good numeracy skills and the ability to make mathematical calculations.
6. Logical thinking skills.
7. Problem solving and analytical skills.
8. A keen eye for detail.
9. Organizational skills.
10. A good memory.
