ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in the related discipline.
- At least two (2) years of working experience in a laboratory.
- Good command of English.

JOB DESCRIPTION: LABORATORY OFFICER AND TECHNICIAN
The Laboratory Officer and Laboratory Technician are the backbone of a scientific laboratory. They play an important role in the overall safety and managing the daily operations of the laboratory. They are responsible for all aspects of the laboratory, including but not limited to: instruments/equipment, users of the laboratory, and supplies needed to ensure the laboratory runs smoothly. They play an important role as the bridge between laboratory operations and general practice.
A) LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
1. CHEMICAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY (CME)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Able to adapt in a dynamic working environment.
- Eager to learn new knowledge.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Provide technical support to perform routine laboratory tasks.
QUALIFICATION:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Preferably non-Executive specialized in Chemistry or equivalent.
2. ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING LABORATORY (EEE)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Working experience related to laboratory setup and maintenance.
- Teaching experience.
- Significant experience in setting up Electrical and Electronics Engineering labs and conducting the related lab courses.
- Experience in working in a higher education establishment.
- Experience with Malaysian Qualification Agencies (MQA) and Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) requirements and evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related majors.
- Majoring in microwave is preferable.
- Graduate Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
3. MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY LABORATORY (MBT)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in conducting laboratory demonstration particularly in marine related teaching/research area, such as:
- Ecology and mariculture laboratory technique.
- Usage of analytical instruments such as HPLC and AAS.
- Histology and staining technique.
- Experience in marine related field experiments.
- Very good organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least MSc holder in related subject (e.g. Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science or other relevant subjects).
4. SCHOOL OF PHYSICS & NEW ENERGY SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in conducting laboratory demonstration.
- Knowledge of astronomy and/or handling of telescopes will be an advantage.
- Very good organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MSc or PhD holder in related subject (i.e. Physics or other relevant subjects).
C) LABORATORY OFFICER (INSTRUMENT SPECIALIST)
1. SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY
REQUIREMENTS:
- The Lab Officer must be competent in operating the following instruments:
- Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).
- Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).
- Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
- UV-Spectrophotometry.
- Experienced users of the following techniques would be an advantage:
- Advanced molecular biology technique: gene cloning, protein expression, and protein purification.
- Tissue culture and cell biology technique.
- Histology and fluorescence microscope technique.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification and experience in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Chemical Engineering.
