As the Labor & Employee Relations Manager,

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategies that drive a collaborative and productive labor-management relations. Your expertise in labor laws, coupled with your exceptional negotiation skills will help you navigate complex and sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact. What you will be doing:

  • Ensure employee relations practices align with company policies and values, delivering a world-class experience in managing cases, disciplinary actions, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Support the Head of LR/ER in managing industrial relations by assisting with Collective Agreement (CA) preparations, negotiations, implementations, and resolving labor-management issues.
  • Conduct market research on HR topics like employment terms to aid in Collective Agreement negotiations and decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice to line managers on industrial relations matters to ensure consistent employment practices and maintain healthy labor relations.
  • Resolve issues related to contract interpretation and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training for management and staff on labor relations topics, including union interactions, grievance handling, and conflict resolution.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinates to achieve set objectives.
  • Shape and guide the organization’s labor policies to ensure they are effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals, including developing new policies and revising existing ones.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor relations matters, such as grievances, disciplinary actions, and litigation.
  • Prepare detailed reports and analyses on labor relations issues for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies across all operational markets.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective management of labor relations and the overall goals of the organization.

Qualifications

You will need to:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree, specialized in Law (Labor Law) or Human Resources;
  • Have total relevant experience of more than 5 years in Industrial Relations matters; with an in-depth understanding of labor laws, regulations and industry standards and capability to advise on legal matters in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.
  • Be familiar with industrial relations, Employment Acts, Labor Laws, counselling & coaching and Union management.
  • Have strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, manage and inspire others.
  • Possess proven ability and tolerance to problem solve and lead in high-stress crisis and emergency situations and environments.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences.
