LAB SUPERVISOR

The Lab Supervisor in the R&D department is responsible for overseeing the laboratory operations, ensuring product quality through testing and analysis, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position plays a critical role in developing and improving the manufacturing process to ensure the production of high-quality gloves while managing a team of lab technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory Management:

• Oversee daily operations of the quality control laboratory, including testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Ensure laboratory is well-equipped and maintain laboratory safety protocols and cleanliness.
• Supervise and train lab technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.

Quality Control and Testing:

• Manage the testing of glove materials (rubber, latex, nitrile, etc.) for compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, or other regulatory bodies).
• Monitor and control the testing process for physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, thickness, puncture resistance, and chemical resistance.
• Perform or supervise tests on finished products, including durability, fit, and performance under various conditions (e.g., heat, moisture, chemicals).

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze test data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement in the manufacturing process.
• Prepare and present comprehensive reports on laboratory findings and product quality status to management.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all laboratory activities and test results.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental policies.
• Maintain accurate records for all tests, inspections, and calibration activities.
• Assist in the preparation of audits and certifications by external bodies, ensuring that the manufacturing process is aligned with industry standards.

Process Improvement:

• Collaborate with production and R&D teams to improve glove manufacturing processes, reduce defects, and enhance product performance.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve quality issues in the production line by using lab test results to propose corrective actions.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment and tools.
• Ensure equipment is up-to-date with the necessary calibrations and certifications to meet regulatory standards.

Training and Development:

• Provide ongoing training to lab staff on testing procedures, safety standards, and new technologies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and promote best practices in lab operations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Education:
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory role, preferably in a manufacturing or quality control environment.
  • Experience in glove manufacturing or similar industries (e.g., medical, personal protective equipment) is a significant advantage.
• Skills and Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment, particularly in the areas of material science, polymer chemistry, and physical testing.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements for glove manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze test data and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI) and laboratory software.
