About The Role

The lab operator is responsible for supporting laboratory activities, conducting testing, including sample collection, registration, and maintaining reliable test records. The role involves assisting in various lab operations, following safety protocols, and ensuring the smooth execution of daily tasks while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Risk Assessment (RA).

Key Responsibilities

1. Sample Collection & Registration
   
   • Assist with the collection, registration, and allocation of samples upon receipt.
   • Knowledgeable and practice safety in the handling of chemicals during modification activities.
   • Support any sample inventory activities within the lab.
2. Lab Testing and Operation
   
   • Support technicians/engineers in conducting tests and data collection according to established operating procedures.
   • Proficient in the use and handling of hand tools and possesses basic knowledge of computers.
   • Accurately document test observations and results, ensuring clarity and consistency.
3. Lab Housekeeping and 5S Activities
   
   • Support with housekeeping and 5S activities to maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
   • Ensure proper care and maintenance of laboratory equipment and tools.
   • Assist in reporting and notifying technicians or lab owners of any damage to lab items or facilities.
   • Help technicians monitor lab users to ensure compliance with laboratory etiquette, safety regulations, and hazard protocols, such as wearing safety shoes.
   • Follow lab safety protocols and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by SOP and RA.
4. Assist with Lab Tasks
   
   • Able to assemble and disassemble machines with guidance from a technician.
   • Perform basic test setup, support with light soldering work, and prepare test materials.

About You

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; certification or coursework in laboratory operations, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
• Basic proficiency in handling tools, computers, and light soldering; familiarity with lab equipment and testing procedures is preferred.
• Understanding of chemical handling safety protocols and PPE usage; adherence to lab safety and hazard control guidelines.
• Ability to maintain inventory, support housekeeping, and follow 5S principles to ensure an orderly lab environment.
• Quick learner who adapts to new concepts and demonstrates efficiency in completing tasks under guidance from technicians or engineers.
