Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements.
Coordinate and prioritize laboratory tasks and ensure optimal workflow, assigning tasks to chemists and technicians as required.
Monitor work-in-progress and take proactive measures to prevent delays in testing and reporting.
Ensure that sample throughput meets customer and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the laboratory’s quality assurance program, ensuring all tests are conducted in accordance with documented procedures and quality standards.
Ensure proper documentation of all laboratory processes and records, aligning with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Lead internal audits of the management system and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure the qualification, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment are in line with SOPs.
Conduct regular performance reviews for Senior Chemists, Assistant Chemists, and Technicians.
Ensure that all laboratory staff are properly trained and maintain training records.
Oversee the development and execution of training programs for laboratory personnel, ensuring compliance with laboratory best practices.
Identify opportunities for operational improvements in laboratory procedures, efficiency, and quality.
Initiate process improvement projects aimed at enhancing laboratory productivity and accuracy.
Lead efforts to update and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the laboratory and upper management, providing regular updates on operations, challenges, and improvements.
Validate final reports for clients, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data before submission.
Report all deviations, nonconforming results, and incidents to the General Manager and take necessary corrective actions.
Monitor laboratory expenses, including equipment purchases, maintenance costs, and consumables usage.
Prepare and manage the laboratory’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked with necessary materials, chemicals, and supplies to meet operational demands.
Requirements:
Degree in Chemistry or a related field.
Registered Chemist with the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry.
At least 5 years of experience in laboratory operations and analytical work.
Familiar with ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is preferable.
Familiar with laboratory operations and analytical work in industrial gases is preferable.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure environments.
Proficient in the use of laboratory management software, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in quality control and method validation in analytical chemistry.
Understanding of laboratory hazards and safety practices.
