The Laboratory Manager will oversee laboratory operations at both the Chaah and Jemaluang sites, ensuring that sample preparation and analytical processes comply with JORC 2012 QAQC standards. The role requires effective coordination with the laboratory team to maintain quality standards, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting of analytical results. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with the operations team to investigate quality issues and optimize mineral processing techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Laboratory Operations & Sample Analysis
   - Ensure soil and rock samples are prepared in accordance with JORC QAQC standards.
   - Perform digestion of geological samples using high-temperature ovens, multiple acid techniques, hot water baths, and open burners.
   - Conduct geochemical assay analysis using AAS, ICP, or XRF techniques.
   - Perform gold analysis using Fire Assay or Aqua Regia methods (for gold samples).
   - Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of laboratory assay results.
2. Equipment Maintenance & Calibration
   - Maintain, calibrate, and verify all laboratory equipment used for sample analysis.
   - Ensure sample preparation equipment is in optimal working condition through periodic maintenance.
   - Implement quality control measures, including cross-checking analysis through quality control samples and statistical analysis.
3. Data Interpretation & Reporting
   - Calculate, maintain, and archive analytical results, ensuring accurate reporting to the Chief Geologist, Mine Manager and COO as case maybe.
   - Prepare and maintain records of received samples and quality control data.
   - Interpret assay data to identify trends and ensure process consistency.
   - Generate technical reports and recommendations based on laboratory findings.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
   - Supervise technical staff to ensure laboratory tests and procedures align with international standards.
   - Establish clear quality methodologies and procedures for laboratory personnel.
   - Oversee laboratory operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
   - Ensure all licenses, certifications, and AELB/RPO regulatory requirements are met and maintained.
   - Ensure all equipment calibration follows an annual schedule.
5. Process Optimization & Problem-Solving
   - Collaborate with the operations team to investigate and resolve quality issues related to iron ore concentrate.
   - Provide recommendations to improve mineral processing efficiency based on laboratory findings.
   - Participate in research and development (R&D) initiatives to enhance laboratory methodologies and processing techniques.
   - Conduct metallurgical testing to optimize extraction and processing performance.
   - Provide training to QAQC Executive, Chemists, Senior Technicians, and Samplers on laboratory equipment use and best practices.
   - Mentor, supervise, and manage laboratory personnel, fostering a high-performance work environment.
   - Ensure a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and technical excellence in the lab.
6. Coordination & Communication
   - Facilitate clear communication between the laboratory team, operations, and management to ensure seamless service delivery.
   - Liaise with Production, Commercial/Planning, and Warehouse Departments on quality issues and customer/supplier complaints.
   - Perform internal and external quality cross-checks as required.
7. Inventory & Documentation
   - Monitor and report on monthly laboratory inventory and resource status.
   - Ensure sales reports, test records, and documentation are accurate and up to date.
   - Maintain proper documentation of laboratory procedures and compliance records.
