About the role:
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our fast growing team.
You will be responsible for providing a first-class and agile support service to our Managed Kubernetes and Managed DevOps customers. You will also act as an escalation point for Kubernetes queries from other areas of the Ekco group.
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Experience building, managing, troubleshooting, and upgrading production-grade Kubernetes clusters, ideally on private cloud in addition to public cloud offerings such as AWS EKS or Azure AKS.
- Experience with cluster bootstrapping and orchestration tools such as Kubeadm or Rancher.
- Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes Ingress Controllers, including ingress rules and SSL termination.
- Experience configuring other Kubernetes resource types, such as deployments, secrets, and persistent volumes.
- Experience building Docker images, including templating with environment variables using tools such as envplate, and experience with Docker registries such as Harbor, AWS ECR, or Azure Container Registry.
- Experience with the Helm package manager.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager templates or Azure Bicep.
- Experience configuring monitoring and alerting for Kubernetes clusters, using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, public cloud tools such as AWS CloudWatch or Azure Monitor, or third-party tools such as Datadog or Dynatrace.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python or Bash.
Bonus points if you have experience with:
- Source Code Management with GitLab, GitHub, AWS CodeCommit, or Azure Repos.
- CI/CD Pipelines with GitLab, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or Azure Pipelines.
- Binary Repository Management solutions such as Nexus or Artifactory.
- Object storage such as AWS S3, Azure Blob, or MinIO.
- Deployment of Kubernetes-hosted supporting application services such as RabbitMQ or the ELK stack.
- Application modernisation projects, such as migrating monolithic applications to containerised cloud-native microservices.
- Working in a multi-tenanted MSP environment.
