Junior & Senior Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview
A Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing costs for building and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects, from initial calculations to final figures. The position focuses on minimizing project costs while maximizing value, ensuring standards and quality requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform and support project control functions, including all quantity surveying activities, tendering, contract administration, and preparation of project reports.
2. Conduct quantity take-offs, pricing, and tender submissions.
3. Source subcontractors and suppliers and assist buyers in procurement processes.
4. Prepare Bill of Quantities (BQ) and tender documents/proposal, as well as manage pre- and post-contract administration.
5. Attend tender clarifications, analyses, and negotiations.
6. Prepare tender reports and award recommendations.
7. Prepare and/or evaluate change orders, review and evaluate work progress.
8. Conduct payment certification and prepare final accounts.
9. Perform budget cost planning, interim forecasts, and control project costs.
10. Attend internal and external meetings, including Design Review and OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings.
11. Ensure engineering deliverables are tracked and milestones are met per project schedule.
12. Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor/management.

Requirements

Education:

1. Degree or related professional certification/diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Experience:

1. Junior Quantity Surveyor: Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred.
2. Senior Quantity Surveyor: At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience.

1. Strong analytical skills with a logical, methodical approach to tasks.
2. Creative problem-solving abilities and an innovative mindset.
3. Excellent numeracy and financial management skills; proficiency in MEP design and costing packages is an advantage.
4. Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and convey complex information in an accessible manner.
5. Strong negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills.
6. In-depth understanding of building and construction technologies, materials, processes, and relevant business/legal issues.

Special Requirements:

1. Proficiency in English.
2. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
3. Basic knowledge of project scheduling and work programming.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera is a plus.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who can work independently and is diligent.
6. Willingness to travel and relocate for outstation projects as required.
