Job description

The Asia-Pacific IT Director plays key roles in overseeing regional operations. The first being the direct responsibility for all of the IT staff in the Asia-Pacific region that are located outside of Kuala Lumpur Center. In this role, the Asia-Pacific IT Director is to lead the regional team in managing business requirements for IT needs, design and implement IT strategies and infrastructure while identifying/eliminating security risks in achieving established regional goals. This role assists with the application architecture for Sherwin-Williams in the Asia-Pacific region on the enterprise level, provide vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to the organization. This role is directly responsible for the development & execution of regional plan, projects, operation efficiency improvement, financial controls as well as relationships with external vendors/parties.

The second is to manage the ITSS site in Kuala Lumpur and/or any other regional center as identified/setup/assigned. In this role, the individual will have dotted line responsibility for all the IT staff in the hub office. While work duties for the staff will come from the direct report managers in the US, the Asia-Pacific IT Director will ensure the staff adhere to all workplace requirements; have a solid backlog of work to do (and will escalate to direct management when they don't), and will be an advocate for local IT staff for any issues that may relate to Global IT. Additionally, the Asia-Pacific IT Director will interface with the Center Site Manager to ensure smooth operations of the site; work towards strategizing and implementing continuous improvement to the operating model of global delivery from the region for global project or IT delivery.

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Responsible for the IT strategy development, leadership, and operations of APAC Region.
  • Oversee regional operation in planning, designing & implementing strategy with close alignment to regional business & global teams on strategic direction.
  • Lead teams of IT staff, manage cross-functional geographically disbursed teams including offshore consultants, where applicable.
  • Provide efficient communication and decision-support to stakeholders and management at all levels.
  • Work to increase business & internal IT team work experience and satisfaction.
  • Own all regional IT delivery in terms of support operation & project delivery from scoping and definition to its successful execution.
  • Manage regional IT financial budget, control, and reporting for upper management.
  • Collaborate with Global teams of respective functions (ie Cyber) for regional initiatives and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors/parties.
  • Business Relationship Management & Portfolio Management.
  • Engage actively with Asia-Pacific business management team to ensure tracking and management of strategies and plans in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Act as key liaison for large or key initiatives in ensuring proper governance practice, transparency of resource investment, and resource capacity planning for the regional portfolio.
  • Own the coordination of activities within the regional teams and alignment of activities across other departments of global technology teams.
  • Partner with other technology teams to identify and prioritize key initiatives, align the execution to value delivery, and business objectives.
  • Strategic planning and execution of regional IT delivery.
  • Ensure the regional organizational structure is structured for optimal success and adjust where appropriate.
  • Develop and promote continuous improvement processes and act as change agent at leadership level.
  • Act as focal point for strategic coordination, key direction communication, escalation, and voice of APAC.
  • Identify areas of opportunities across regional teams in supporting business & provide recommendations for value creation.
  • Provide ad hoc project leadership or support for critical efforts as directed by Leadership Team.
  • Oversight for site administration in supporting all aspects of delivery team staffing, operation runs, and office-related matters.
  • Financial budget administration.

Incidental Functions

  • Assist with global projects as may be required to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the work.
  • Assist upper management on cross-region and global initiatives as per appropriately assigned.
  • Explore and brainstorm with regional counterpart on cross-regional synergy from ideation, PoC, pilot to inception.

Qualifications

FORMAL EDUCATION:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 15 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business.
  • Preferred:
  • MBA preferred.
  • Multilingual capabilities; Chinese and English preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Required:
  • 15+ years IT related experience.
  • 8+ years of IT management/leadership experience (direct reports).
  • 5+ years of business relationship management (BRM) and/or portfolio management experience.
  • 5+ years of ERP integration, implementation, and management experience.
  • Significant experience supporting large or complex multi-functional and multi-divisional projects, including business or system integrations, acquisitions, rationalizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and soft skills. Demonstrated leadership.
  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies, tools/techniques, best practices, and relevant application to Company or Divisional organizational behavior.
  • Experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, P&L management, organizational planning, onboarding, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Experience leading large programs, including establishing effective governance structures, cross-functional coordination, and executive stakeholder management and reporting.
  • Extensive experience in multiple fields including, but not limited to: Digital Technology (IT Security, Infrastructure, ERP, key business domains, data), Operations (supply chain, manufacturing, order management, engineering, and procurement), finance, technical (R&D), EHS, regulatory, sales, and marketing functions, and related support IT systems.
  • Current knowledge of industry trends, marketplace, and competition.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in multiple business and operational functional areas.
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse and geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience leading change initiatives in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership and team-building skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience managing an IT Shared Services center preferred.
  • International experience strongly desired.
  • Previous experience managing personnel in multiple global locations.
  • Significant project management and leadership experience.
