Job description

We are looking for a Market Research Consultant to lead a survey ranking in a specific industry. This role focuses on gathering, analysing and reporting data on essential business metrics, offering insights into competitive positions across the industry. The Consultant will work independently to design, execute and deliver actionable findings based on key performance indicators, such as client base, market size and operational scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Survey Design & Execution:
    1. Develop and implement a survey methodology to assess and rank firms based on selected business metrics (e.g., market size, client base, fee distribution, staff turnover).
    2. Use public resources and when necessary engage with firms directly to collect essential data.
    3. Ensure accuracy and consistency in the survey process, adhering to unbiased methods throughout.
  2. Data Collection & Analysis:
    1. Source and compile data from publicly available documents such as annual reports and regulatory filings.
    2. Synthesize collected data to objectively rank firms according to the defined metrics.
    3. Identify industry trends and comparative strengths to provide actionable insights.
  3. Reporting:
    1. Deliver a comprehensive report summarising the survey findings, offering a clear ranking and assessment of firms.
    2. Highlight industry-wide trends, strengths and competitive dynamics.
    3. Present findings in an easily interpretable format suitable for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience: 5+ years of work experience, including at least 2 years in market research, competitive analysis or benchmarking, preferably within professional services or consulting sectors.
  2. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Data Analysis, Research Methodology or a related field.
  3. Skills:
    1. Strong research and analytical abilities, with experience synthesising large datasets.
    2. Proficiency in report writing and data presentation.
    3. Excellent project management skills to oversee end-to-end survey execution.
    4. Fluency in English (proficiency in Malay or other languages is advantageous).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Background in professional services research, market analysis or consultancy.
  2. Professional certifications in market research or data analysis are a plus (e.g., CRM, CBIP, ACCA, CPA or related).
