Hull Engineering Manager - FPSO

Role Purpose
The Hull Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and supervising a multi-disciplinary engineering and design team for the hull and marine facilities of an FPSO project. This role ensures that engineering design is delivered on schedule and meets all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements while coordinating with shipyards, suppliers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Project Management
- Lead and oversee the engineering and design activities related to FPSO hull and marine facilities.
- Ensure seamless integration between hull/marine systems and topside engineering.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the engineering team and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Develop and implement engineering execution strategies to achieve project goals.
Stakeholder & Shipyard Coordination
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison with the shipyard, ensuring design compliance and resolving technical issues.
- Engage with clients for technical discussions and negotiations.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
- Approve variation orders from shipyards and suppliers.
Manpower & Resource Planning
- Develop and manage the engineering team, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Prepare manning plans and allocate engineering tasks based on project requirements.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify and mitigate engineering risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, classification society rules, and company standards.
- Drive quality assurance and HSE best practices in engineering activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of experience in FPSO projects, covering the full project lifecycle from FEED to delivery.
- Extensive experience in hull and marine engineering, including structural, stability, hydrodynamics, and marine systems.
- Strong knowledge of FPSO topside and marine interface requirements.
- Experience working with shipyards, including design approval and construction oversight.
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams in an FPSO environment.
