Head of Operations Excellence

The Head of Operations Excellence is responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, and guidance to the following functions and their respective teams: Continuous Improvement, Business Architecture, and Quality & Compliance. This role leads all sub-functions to ensure delivery of organizational strategic goals. The specific accountabilities for this role include:

Develop and Implement Continuous Improvement Programs:
Establish and implement regionally aligned programs & frameworks that drive CL Operations performance improvement through process re-engineering to deliver efficiency and productivity benefits, standardization and application of standards, and best practice sharing. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging agreed industry-leading tools, techniques, and methodologies (with a focus on business-aligned LEAN, 6Sigma, and Industrial Engineering approaches) to identify and implement improvements.

Leverage digitization through Business Architecture:
Ensure high levels of Business Architecture collaboration across functions, particularly Operations, to drive efficiencies derived from digitization opportunities. Set direction that supports the development and execution of regional and market-specific business architecture strategies and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall strategic objectives.

Quality and Compliance Management:
Ensure the development and implementation of quality management systems and processes to meet the company’s quality objectives and compliance obligations. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including but not limited to ISO 9001 and 14001, OHSAS 18001, TAPA, and relevant customer and supplier quality requirements.

Coaching and Training:
Establish and track the functional skills matrix, conduct training needs analysis to design and deliver effective training plans across required business processes, project management disciplines, hard and soft skills, leadership, financial and commercial management, operations, and technology. Ensure coaching and training are aligned to both the individual’s personal development needs and business needs. Maintain a systematic training and coaching approach to support resources in achieving higher skills, capabilities, competencies, and expertise within suitable and achievable timeframes.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a senior operations leadership role, including site P&L accountability, with a proven track record of delivering operational excellence across multiple functions and teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, logistics and supply chain, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification such as MBA, PMP, Six Sigma, or Lean Certification is preferred.
  • A working understanding of all sub-function job roles, accountabilities, and requirements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing continuous improvement programs (e.g., LEAN or 6Sigma) and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • An understanding of business architecture design, planning, and implementation approaches, methodologies, and tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards, including but not limited to ISO 9001 and 14001, OHSAS 18001, TAPA certifications.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to coach and oversee team members, and directly manage complex projects as required.
  • Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and manage resources effectively, both directly and remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and information to a range of stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Strong analytical skills with good commercial and technical understanding in the context of a logistics and supply chain environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English a requirement; other Asian language(s) are beneficial.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Able to travel interstate and/or overseas on a project basis as required for agreed durations.
