HEAD OF MAINTENANCE AND ENGINEERING

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in maintenance and engineering, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong background in the palm oil or related manufacturing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance systems, equipment, and engineering principles in a refinery or industrial plant setting.
• Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other engineering software.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the palm oil industry and required key skills such as:

1. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
2. Excellent communication and team-building skills.
3. Budget management and cost optimization.
4. Project management expertise.
5. Familiarity with automation, control systems, and reliability engineering practices.

Working Conditions:

• Based at the palm oil refinery site, with regular site inspections and operational oversight.
• May require occasional travel to other plants, suppliers, or training centers.
• Availability for emergency or on-call maintenance as required. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that the palm oil refinery operates efficiently and reliably, minimizing production disruptions and maximizing equipment lifespan while maintaining a safe working environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure high operational performance.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Train, motivate, and develop the team to improve skills and knowledge.
• Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to production.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
• Develop and manage the preventive maintenance program to minimize breakdowns and increase equipment lifespan.
• Ensure timely procurement of necessary materials, tools, and spare parts.
• Provide engineering support for process improvement and plant optimization.
• Collaborate with the operations and production teams to design and implement modifications to enhance refinery operations.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and safety meetings.
• Monitor the performance of safety and environmental systems within the maintenance department.
• Prepare and manage the maintenance and engineering department budget.
• Monitor and control maintenance costs while ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Identify opportunities to reduce maintenance costs without compromising safety or quality.
• Ensure optimal performance and lifespan of critical equipment and machinery.
• Manage equipment failure analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
• Oversee the calibration, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, performance, and equipment status.
• Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance performance, operational metrics, and ongoing projects.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Manage and oversee engineering projects, including capital improvements, plant expansions, and equipment upgrades.
• Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers on project implementation.
• Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Continuously assess plant performance and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency.
• Promote the adoption of best practices, new technologies, and industry standards to improve maintenance practices.
