HEAD OF LEGAL / SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

The Head of Legal is responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the company, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing strategic legal advice to senior management. Reporting directly to the CEO and Executive Committee, this position requires strong leadership skills, extensive legal knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex business environments while mitigating legal risks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and guidance to the company's management team on a wide range of legal matters.
• Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.
• Manage and oversee the company's litigation matters, including working with external counsel when necessary.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as HR and Finance, to ensure legal compliance in areas such as employment law and financial regulations.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Monitor and assess legal risks associated with the company's operations and provide proactive solutions to mitigate those risks.
• Oversee the company's corporate governance and ensure compliance with corporate laws and regulations.
• Stay informed about industry-specific legal issues and trends and provide guidance to the company on potential impacts.
• Company secretary experience will be an advantage.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Professional Certificate in Law, or equivalent qualification.
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced Public Listed Company (PLC) environment with tight deadlines.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, and experience in legal firm is required.
• Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin languages.
• Proficient in computer applications such as MS Excel and Word.
• Demonstrates high integrity, proactiveness, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and professionally.
• A team player with excellent communication skills who can effectively supervise a team of subordinates.
