Head of Legal

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 10 years post experience in legal advisory/compliance esp. water industry and litigations

Job Description:

• Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate and commercial law, as well as litigation practices.
• To render legal services as in-house legal counsel or a legal practitioner in a corporate environment.
• Well-versed in water industry laws and other relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
• Able to conduct research both internally and in other commercial databases.
• Analytical with good advocacy and writing skills.
• Proactive in identifying and advising the Company on legal developments that may affect the company.
• Able to advise the Company on related legal issues and vet documents thoroughly.
• Able to provide professional and independent legal advice.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• To provide legal advice under the regulatory laws administered by SPAN and other relevant laws particularly in the area of Company Act 2016, WASIA 2006, and PDPA 2010.
• To review and vet documentation of the Company’s contracts to enable the Company to meet its legal needs and manage its legal risks.
• To ensure all agreements are effectively negotiated and clearly drafted to ensure consistency with written laws and meet the requirements of the Company.
• To establish and maintain good working relationships with SPAN, PAAB, State LA office, Government bodies, and external panel lawyers at all times.
• To familiarize with the provisions of Companies Act 2016 and Company’s Constitution.
• To ensure correct procedures are followed and adhered to in accordance with the Companies Act 2016 and Company’s Constitution at all times.
• To familiarize and be well-versed with Master Agreement, Facility Agreement, Lease Agreement & Corporatization Agreement.
