Head of Legal

The Head of Legal will be responsible for managing the legal department and providing strategic legal advice to the executive team. This senior leadership role will ensure that Encorp Berhad operates within the boundaries of the law, while also supporting the company’s growth and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the legal department, including supervising a team of legal professionals.
• Provide strategic legal counsel to the CEO, executive team, and senior management on business operations, transactions, and corporate matters.
• Oversee legal aspects of corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
• Manage the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts, agreements, and corporate documentation.
• Provide legal guidance on property development, construction projects, and real estate investments.
• Handle disputes and litigation, collaborating with external legal counsel as necessary.
• Advise on regulatory compliance across multiple areas, including construction, real estate, and corporate law.
• Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards, including those related to corporate governance and data privacy.
• Monitor legal developments, trends, and risks that could affect the company’s operations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in a senior legal role, preferably in a corporate or real estate development environment.
• Expertise in corporate law, construction law, real estate law, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record in managing a legal team and providing counsel to senior management.
• Strong negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Malaysian legal frameworks and regulations, particularly in real estate and construction.
• Ability to balance legal considerations with business objectives and risks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex legal situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-house legal experience within a similar industry (real estate, construction, or infrastructure).
• Knowledge of international legal practices or cross-border transactions.
• Professional certifications or memberships with the Malaysian Bar or other relevant organizations.
