Head of Legal

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced legal leader to oversee our legal department and protect the company’s interests. As Head of Legal, you will serve as the key advisor to the Board of Directors, CEO, and senior management, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and driving business success through strategic legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Legal Advisory & Compliance: Advise on a broad spectrum of legal matters, including corporate governance, contracts, regulatory requirements, industrial relations, and financial disclosures. Ensure the company’s adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
• Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement: Foster strong relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and external stakeholders to promote compliance and enhance the company’s reputation.
• Legal Strategy & Risk Management: Develop forward-looking legal strategies to mitigate risks and align with business objectives while protecting the company’s legal interests.
• Contract & Dispute Management: Oversee contract negotiations, draft and review key legal documents, and manage arbitration, litigation, and dispute resolution when necessary.
• Training & Policy Development: Establish and implement legal policies, processes, and training programs to enhance compliance awareness across the organization.
• Leadership & Team Development: Build and develop a high-performing legal team, fostering both technical expertise and leadership capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
• Cross-Functional Legal Support: Work closely with various departments to provide legal insights on strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate projects.
• Special Projects: Lead and support key legal initiatives and ad hoc projects as required to address business needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent professional qualification.
• 12-15 years of legal experience, preferably in corporate law.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
• Extensive experience providing legal advice to senior leadership in mid-to-large organizations.
• Strong ability to simplify complex legal matters and communicate effectively with non-legal stakeholders.
• Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to navigate diverse legal and business challenges.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring legal teams.
• Proactive and strategic mindset with a keen ability to anticipate and address legal risks.
