Head of Infrastructure

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia's Technology Division is partnering with a new venture that is authorized as the sole provider of a respective Google technology in Malaysia. Our esteemed client is seeking an experienced professional to be their Head of Infrastructure.

The winning candidate will lead the design, implementation, and management of a secure and reliable air-gapped cloud environment. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of all infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, and security systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud computing, networking, and security best practices, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the long-term vision and strategy for the air-gapped cloud infrastructure, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.
• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate infrastructure solutions and technologies.
• Define and maintain architectural standards, security policies, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., security, compliance, application development) to ensure alignment and integration of infrastructure solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain a secure and reliable infrastructure, covering:
  • Compute: Server provisioning, virtualization (VMware, KVM), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration.
  • Storage: Block, file, and object storage solutions, data protection, and disaster recovery.
  • Networking: Network segmentation, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network security.
  • Security: Identity and access management (IAM), threat detection and response, vulnerability management, and data encryption.
• Oversee selection, procurement, and deployment of infrastructure hardware/software to ensure compatibility and performance.
• Manage daily operations, including system performance monitoring, capacity planning, proactive maintenance, and incident response.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security and regulatory requirements (ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).
• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including regular testing.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing infrastructure engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Stay updated on cloud computing, networking, and security trends, evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with a strong focus on cloud computing.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing air-gapped cloud environments.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, routing, switching), security best practices, and compliance standards.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and automation tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with air-gapped solutions.
• Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CCSP).
• Project management experience (Agile, Scrum).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Experience with Linux, ServiceNow, network administration, and Microsoft system administration.
