The Position
As the Head of Finance and Commercial Operations, you will lead the Finance, Supply Chain, Compliance, SHE and Facilities functions. You are responsible for designing and executing Finance and Commercial Operations strategies, influencing and advocating strategies to drive top line while maintaining profitability.
In this position, you will be in a key role to help shape and enable the Roche Diagnostics Malaysia (RDMY) strategy, and contribute to the overall Roche Diagnostics vision. You demonstrate personal purpose around improving the healthcare ecosystem thinking from an enterprise level, beyond boundaries and borders, to bring the best possible outcomes to the healthcare environment; creating better health outcomes for more patients faster, and by bringing a strong entrepreneurial mentality with outstanding partnering capabilities.
Who you are:
- Act as the key advisor to the General Manager in business and financial strategy and play a key role in enabling the company’s business plan preparation and strategy execution. Be the business partner to RDMY leadership team to ensure the accomplishment of the Company's goals. Enhance organizational agility in streamlining and automating key end-to-end business processes across the enterprise to increase productivity, execution speed, and customer satisfaction.
- Build a high-performing team and a diverse talent pipeline by fostering an inclusive culture that provides exceptional learning and growth opportunities to our employees. Make good business decisions and exercise sound judgment, as well as consistently and effectively balance decisions with imperatives for ethics and efficacy. You must also be able to make difficult “no-go” decisions if you see unrealizable paths to sustainable business value.
- Lead all RDMY planning cycles including the Business Plan, Target Setting, and Monthly Outlook process in close collaboration with business partners, enabled by key insights on financial and related performance indicators, strategy implementation, and external market trends. Act as RDMY’s Compliance Officer and legal coordinator. Develop appropriate internal control systems to ensure robust operating governance and compliance with Roche Code of Conduct, local and global policies as well as applicable laws and industry codes. Ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies and a comprehensive business partner management system (e.g. distributor management) are in place.
- Liaise with external stakeholders including but not limited to customers, distributors, third party logistics partners, external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and legal advisors. Work collaboratively with networks within and beyond Malaysia to unleash synergies and successfully drive positive impact to Roche as one global organization. Support any other initiatives as may be assigned from time to time.
- VACC leadership (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach) with a focus on coaching and mentoring for teams and individual team members. Leadership skills demonstrated as an ability to anticipate and remove barriers to productivity, drive teams towards clear goals, take effective decisions, and challenge the status quo. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to think strategically and drive business growth.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen together with the ability to manage ambiguity and drive for results. Nurturing mindset. Strong sense of accountability and desire to grow and support the team’s growth through intense learning and re-application. Persuasive and an effective communicator; strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills. Staying abreast of trends in the external environment that could impact the business.
You will be:
- Experienced finance leader (10+ years in healthcare or diagnostics industry) with a record of accomplishment in strategy development, leadership, people management, and execution of large, complex, cross-functional (cross-enterprise) programs/initiatives.
- Demonstrated passion for creating a sustainable healthcare industry and a thought leader with proven P&L management expertise in the diagnostics industry.
- Solid understanding of all the adjacent enabling functions beyond Finance, strong business acumen, and know how to connect the dots within the enterprise and above country. Proven analytical and forward-looking thought process, and has experience in analysing the feasibility of complex deals & partnerships, and making appropriate recommendations. Consistent track record of building collaborative relationships with peers and teams, helping cross-functional teams address strategic opportunities and challenges across the organization.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills. Strong leadership and demonstrated experience in building, leading, and coaching diverse teams.
- Adaptable to fast-changing environments.
