About This Role

Job Title: Head of Engineering Training

Reports to:Accountable Manager / Center Leader

Based at:CAE Kuala Lumpur, Sepang

Job purpose:

Appointed by CAAM as a nominated post holder for ensuring the engineering training program is delivered in compliance with the latest CAAM regulations and requirements. The role is also responsible for ensuring adequate resources are available to support the programs and that the proficiency of all Instructional staff is upheld within the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the delegated duties and responsibilities of the Accountable Manager during prolonged absence and keep him/her informed of the state of compliance and development of the organization.
  • Institute a suitable organizational structure in the Engineering Training department.
  • Provide appropriate and adequate training standards acceptable to the organization and CAAM.
  • Ensure that the progression and development of training are efficiently managed and that all work carried out by the organization meets CAAM requirements.
  • Establish and maintain an economical but effective administrative system and safe working environment within Engineering Training.
  • Acquire and maintain suitable training aids and facilities.
  • Develop strategic plans and provision of competent staff with adequate and functional infrastructure to meet training needs.
  • Ensure the department has sufficient instructors with appropriate qualifications, possessing the correct skills and current on the latest methods, procedures, and requirements by reviewing the requirement status every 24 months to provide appropriate training to the staff.
  • Ensure all personnel under supervision understand and adopt applicable safety policies, objectives, and goals to achieve safe training operations.
  • Develop and establish the Maintenance Training Programme (MTP). Consult and liaise with QA Manager on matters pertaining to the approval of courses and training.
  • Communicate with the Instructor for the development of Training Notes (TN) and/or Instructor Presentation (IP) to ensure availability and control, and that they are always updated.
  • Communicate with the Practical Instructor for the development of the Practical Training Logbook (PTL) to ensure availability and control, and that it is always updated.
  • Monitor the progress of all courses to ensure that a high level of quality and performance standard is maintained at all times.
  • Manage the training requirement budgets of the Engineering Training department.
  • Responsible for undertaking the necessary corrective action resulting from the quality compliance monitoring and audit program.
  • Lead and provide strategic guidance to define the Sales and Marketing strategy for engineering training.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Sales team on marketing campaigns.
  • During the period of absence for more than 30 days, control will be maintained for administration purposes by the Head of Engineering Training Deputy, and he will be kept informed of the state of compliance. An official letter or email will be issued to this effect, and notification to CAAM shall also be made.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with a Maintenance Training Organization.
  • CAAM or NAA’s Aircraft Maintenance license holder or hold an aeronautical/electrical/mechanical engineering degree recognized by local education authorities.
  • Conversant with CAAM regulations.
  • Shall be approved by CAAM as Nominated Post Holder.

  • Normal office working hours.
