Job description

About the Client

Our client is a prominent conglomerate listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. Presently, the portfolio encompasses more than 30 companies engaged in various sectors such as oil tools, property development, phosphates and cement manufacturing, construction materials, trading, financial services, telco infrastructure and other related services.

About the Role:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with MFRS (Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards) and IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, Securities Commission guidelines, and other local regulations.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial disclosures.
  • Draft statutory financial statements of the Group and sub-group, and review subsidiary companies’ statutory accounts to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare notes highlighting key trends and variances to profit or loss, balance sheet, analytical reports, and insights on the impact of changes on business.
  • Prepare RRPT report and ensure submission to Group Internal Audit Department within the agreed timeline.
  • Prepare templates and ensure Business Units (BU) receive the information required for reports.
  • Support the preparation of the Group Budget and Cash Flow Projection.
  • Oversee group-level adjustments and reconciliations.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on MFRS and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements.
  • Monitor, interpret, and summarize changes in accounting standards and listing rules.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Document, review, and improve financial policies and procedures to enhance control and operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with different stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide suitable recommendations.
  • Possess strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with subsidiary finance teams, ensuring smooth coordination and alignment on financial matters.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of educational materials for internal audiences.
  • Ad-hoc assignments from Management.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Accountancy or equivalent.
  • Must have a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA.
  • Must be registered with the IIAM, MIA, CIMA, or MICPA.
  • Preferably 8 years of experience in financial, accounting, or related fields, with a balanced understanding of commercial operations.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in accounting standards, income tax, and SST legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, planning and organizing, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
