He / She is responsible for data capture, analysis, visualization, advanced spatial analysis, and compliance technologies, focused on GIS and geospatial solutions. This position requires extensive knowledge of various GIS tools for mapping, agro-management inputs, maximizing yields, profitability, and labor productivity in accordance with environmentally friendly and sustainable manners. He / She will report to the Precision Agriculture Manager.

Job Description

We are seeking a GIS Assistant Manager to be based in our Sabah Plantation.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Ground data collection and measurement using GPS and GIS Instrument, and build plantation spatial database.
2. Conduct on-premise geographical information system (GIS) analyzing / digitizing work for oil palm mapping data.
3. Analyzing spatial data and designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
4. Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data.
5. Mapping of canals, drainage, and other land use areas in the plantation.
6. Assisting the agronomy department in new oil palm replanting procedures.
7. Supporting the operational team by providing thematic maps or other maps required.
8. Ability to fly drones will be an advantage.

Requirements:

1. Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Science Computer / Geoinformatics / Geomatic or equivalent disciplines.
2. Familiar with Mapping Software (ArcGIS, QGIS, GlobalMapper, Agisoft Metashape).
3. Knowledge of Python language and machine learning programming.
4. Experience in the geospatial / GIS field and web-based application development of oil palm plantation is an advantage.
5. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Able to work independently and/or with the team.
7. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and IT skills.
8. Experience in field research and knowledge in oil palm and sustainable agriculture will be an added advantage.
9. Knowledge and field implementation of GPS/GIS or precision agriculture is an advantage.
10. Willing to learn, self-motivated, lots of initiative, and have a high degree of discipline.
11. Willing to work and live in a plantation environment.
12. Strong planning and organizational skills.
