Geologist
Job description
Connect Energy partners with a marine technology company to look for a GEOLOGIST for their upcoming project in Malaysia.
Responsibilities:
- Provide geologic assistance and advise the subsurface team.
- Build storage sites ranking.
- Understand geological formations that can be used to store CO2.
- Identify potential reservoirs and seals that are evaluated and characterized for their CO2 storage.
- Map potential storage sites and calculate the storage capacity.
- Prepare geological development of the basin (age, formation groups, and aquifer), structural framework, and geological description for each formation.
- Determine storage potential in saline aquifers, abandoned/depleted oil and gas fields, as well as producing fields.
- Build geological understanding of the basin.
- Knowledge of geologic principles and techniques as per Storage Development Plan (SDP).
- Interpret various log data and generate geologic cross sections.
- Integrate geologic data into subsurface static and dynamic models, including seal, fault, and overburden analysis.
- Have knowledge of static models to work with geo-modeler to adjust static and dynamic models.
- Perform broad geologic knowledge for interdisciplinary integration.
- Generate workflow and characterization of aquifers and structures in terms of reservoir quality, sealing quality, lead risk, and data coverage.
- Assess the suitability of geological formations for CO2 storage to identify prospective areas for large-scale CO2 storage.
- Map potential storage sites and calculate the storage.
- Prepare geological development of Sarawak, structural framework, and geological description for each formation.
- Evaluate aquifers' reservoir quality and presence of relevant sealing formations.
- Determine areas with relevant storage potential in terms of depth, capacity, and injectivity.
- Prepare structural maps and thickness maps of the aquifers to calculate pore volumes.
