Management (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)

The General Manager will oversee the Operations, Safety, Customer Service, and Sales departments, ensuring the alignment of these functions with the company's strategic goals. This role demands a strong leader with a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and significant experience in the transportation or logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement operational strategies and policies to meet organizational goals.
  • Lead and mentor department heads in Operations, Safety, Customer Service, and Sales, fostering a culture of high performance.
  • Provide strategic insights to senior management and participate in long-term planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and execute business plans that align with the company's growth objectives.
  • Operational Management:
    • Ensure daily operations across all departments run smoothly and efficiently.
    • Oversee resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and budgets, to optimize departmental performance.
    • Identify and address operational inefficiencies, implementing process improvements to enhance productivity.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a strong safety culture within the organization.
    • Address safety issues promptly and implement measures to minimize risks.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service department to ensure high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to set targets, develop sales strategies, and monitor performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and service delivery.
  • Budget & Performance Management:
    • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource utilization.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track departmental performance and report regularly to senior management.
  • Team Development:
    • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and development of staff, ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills.
    • Lead initiatives to enhance staff engagement, training, and retention across departments.
  • Risk Management & External Relations:
    • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Represent the company in external interactions with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring a positive company image.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
