Experienced General Manager – Data Center Construction

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced General Manager for our well renowned General Contractor for their current and upcoming Data Centers in the Johore region.

The selected General Manager will be responsible for project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, and architectural. This role requires both independent contribution as well as ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project management and oversight of construction activities
• Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the construction cycle.
• Planning and manage project from commencement to completion.
• Overall responsibility for site administration, procurement, quality assurance and safety control.
• Ensure that the project is completed within the contract period and budget.
• Attend and/or chair regular project related meetings/site inspections (e.g. Project Review, Safety Walk, Site assessment, etc.) with project team members / clients / consultants / sub-contractors.
• Comply with client / consultant and applicable legal and other requirements.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, schedule, value engineering and cost reduction efforts.

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent with 10-15+ years of professional experience in industrial construction projects.
• Completed at least ONE Data Center from start to finish (from Green / brown field until project going live).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Understanding of compliance and quality assurance guidelines and best practices.
• Ability to build and maintain a positive relationship with various stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to lead a diverse team to achieve a common goal.
• Show good judgment and instincts in decision-making.
• Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Direct and relevant experience in Data Center construction.
• Licensed as either a Professional Engineer is desired.
• Experience in managing multiple, large, multi-faceted projects.
• Well-versed in Ms Office, Ms Project, or P6 Primavera.
