Job description

Responsibilities

  1. To ensure accurate and timely recording, reporting and analysis of financial transactions in accordance with laws and regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  2. To ensure that accounts are closed and reported on time within stipulated timeframes.
  3. To ensure that accounts are reconciled and adequate level of documentation is maintained.
  4. To ensure that records of cash, inventory, fixed assets, Right-Of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities are accurately maintained and reconciled.
  5. To ensure that inter-company accounts are reconciled timely and eliminated at group level.
  6. To ensure that analysis of expenses are prepared timely in order to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  7. To ensure that financial transactions are posted to the right company code, profit/cost centre, product code and General Ledger (GL) account code.
  8. To assist the Head of Accounting Operations in other day-to-day operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Recording Transactions: Record financial transactions accurately and timely in the GL using appropriate accounting codes and classifications. Ensure consistency and adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
  2. Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries for standard transactions, accruals, prepayments. Verify the accuracy of journal entries and supporting documentation. Post non-standard journal entries upon approval from controllers.
  3. Month-end Close: Assist in the month-end closing process by reconciling accounts, analyzing variances, and preparing financial statements. Ensure timely completion of month-end tasks and checklists to facilitate accurate financial reporting.
  4. Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other financial reports.
  5. Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Investigate and resolve any reconciling items or discrepancies promptly.
  6. Fixed Assets Accounting: Maintain fixed asset records, including acquisition, depreciation, disposal, and impairment. Perform periodic reconciliations and asset impairment assessments as required.
  7. Intercompany Transactions: Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between different entities or departments within the organization.
  8. Documentation and Record Keeping: Organize and maintain accounting records and documentation for audit trail purposes. Ensure adherence to document retention policies and procedures.
  9. Revenue Recognition: Assist in the recognition and recording of revenue in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Verify the accuracy of revenue-related transactions and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  10. ROU Assets and Lease Liabilities: Maintain ROU asset depreciation schedule and lease payment schedule showing initial recognition, depreciation, lease payments, interest expense, early termination of lease and other relevant information.
  11. Compliance and Auditing: Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation, explanations, and assistance as needed. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  12. System Maintenance and Improvement: Maintain accounting systems to ensure data integrity and security. Identify rooms for improvements to streamline accounting operations.
  13. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, procurement, and operations, to gather information, resolve issues, and support business objectives. Provide financial expertise and guidance to non-finance stakeholders as needed.

Qualification & Experience

  1. Minimum Diploma in Accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent field with at least 1 to 2 years of working experience in similar capacity.
  2. Fresh graduates are also welcomed to apply.

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Solid understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
  2. Computer literate, familiarity with ERP system and Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
  3. Attention to details and accuracy in data entry.
  4. Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  5. Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various teams.
  6. Possess high level of integrity and commitment to complete tasks with sense of urgency.
  7. Independent, proactive and self-motivated to achieve personal and company goals.
  8. Team player and possess effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
