The Malaysian Recycling Alliance Berhad (MAREA) is the first EPR (Extended Producers Responsibility) platform in Malaysia founded by leading FMGC giants. The current members include companies such as Ajinomoto, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Dutch Lady, Etika, F&N, L'Oréal, Mondelez, Nestle, SIG Combibloc, Spritzer, Tetra Pak and Unilever. MAREA is a non-profit organisation to push for recycling of post-consumer packaging waste in Malaysia (namely PET, HDPE, UBC and Flexibles) by working closely with the industry and the Government.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's general accounting and finance-related matters. Additionally, this individual will provide crucial financial, cost control, and compliance support to our ongoing recyclables collection projects across Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the company's general accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior management, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with project teams to provide financial guidance and support for ongoing recyclables collection projects.
- Monitor project financial performance, including cost management, revenue recognition, profitability analysis, and project audit.
- Drive initiatives to enhance ESG reporting and compliance within the organization and across project stakeholders.
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the finance function.
- Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and analysis to senior management.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and developments to ensure compliance and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree / Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field from a reputable university.
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 3 years of experience in project financial and cost management.
- Experience working with multinational organizations is strongly desired.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
- Suitable knowledge and understanding of ESG reporting and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in English is essential; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills.
