Executive, Procurement (Relocate to Africa/Senegal)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Procurement Executive who can relocate to Senegal, Africa, and be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing farm-related materials, equipment, and services necessary to support the oil palm plantation greenfield project in Senegal. This includes procurement for water irrigation infrastructure, farm irrigation setup, solar energy, biochar systems, storage facilities, and other essential materials/infrastructure. The candidate will ensure cost-effective purchasing strategies while maintaining quality and timely delivery of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

• Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to the needs of an oil palm plantation greenfield project.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors for farm-related materials and services. This includes irrigation and infrastructure, including water pumping systems from lakes or rivers, farm irrigation setups, and related components.
• Identify and engage with reliable suppliers for renewable energy solutions, such as solar power systems or biochar facilities for the plantation.
• Manage procurement of storage facilities, farm machineries, farming materials and related infrastructure.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and sustainability practices.

Vendor & Contract Management

• Establish and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
• Evaluate vendor performance and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Manage contracts and agreements with suppliers and service providers.

Procurement project management

• Coordinate of goods and materials and service sourcing and procurement in alignment with project teams requirements.
• Ensure close alignment with project teams on materials and service quality or supply issues for quick recovery actions and solutions.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with local and international procurement laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and supplier contracts.
• Prepare sourcing & procurement reports and present findings to senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in procurement, preferably in agriculture business, plantation projects, or industrial projects.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in procuring farm-related materials, irrigation systems, renewable energy, infrastructure, and plantation-related equipment will be advantage.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of supply chain management, vendor management, contract negotiation, and procurement best practices.
• Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in English; knowledge of French is highly desirable.
• IT Skills: Proficiency in procurement software, MS Office, and ERP systems.
• Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to local business practices.
• Mobility: Willingness to relocate to Senegal and travel to supplier sites as required.
