Increasing trade wallet, collaborating with the internal stakeholders within the group to increase the trade business, structuring and providing trade solution to internal and external stakeholders. Championing and supporting the sales process from pitching, execution and drawdown.

Functional (job responsibilities)

  • Product champion and product lead for Islamic Trade Finance which includes negotiation and execution of complex and valuable trade finance transactions nationwide.
  • Promote the tailored structured services, solutions and products for Islamic Trade Finance within the Corporate, SME and Global Market.
  • Responsible for Trade Product Strategy, Product Development, Trade Campaigns and Product Management SOPs.
  • Manage nationwide Trade Transactions, utilisation, product advisory which carries quarter of departmental fee income budget.
  • Maintain good relationships with banks and customers to obtain invitations/collaborations to syndicated/club deals.
  • Manage, develop and enhance the suite of Documentary Trade products, Documentary Credits, Negotiations, new incoming Trade Finance structures to meet the trade financing and risk mitigation needs of the Bank's.
  • Analyse the Islamic Trade Finance portfolio on ongoing basis and ensure that the products/market risks are aligned to the market and undertake initiatives to grow the business.
  • Drive Halal Initiative under HLISB's 3 Years Masterplan- expanding our Halal clientele, pitch our products and provide solutions to clients in the Halal space, run campaigns specific to Halal initiatives. Drive the growth for selected Halal Sectors according to budget/target set.
  • Grow business in collaboration with BCB/SME/Transaction Banking to grow and expand Trade Financing markets by developing strategies and driving execution.
  • Understand and address gaps via product enhancement, digital innovation and drive opportunities for appropriate tailored solutions.
  • Review pricing and returns to ensure that products are priced according to market conditions/against peers and meet income return thresholds.
  • Lead as Islamic Trade Finance product expert and partner with ARMs in executing the sales process from pitching until drawdown of the facility.
  • Attending and troubleshooting all inquiries/problems from various departments on Islamic products.
  • Development of new Trade Finance products, enhancement of existing products.
  • Drive digitalization of Trade Finance product towards e-channel such HL Connect First.
  • Key person for the Islamic Trade Master SOP, system guide & automation, URS for BCB-i products (in collaboration with Product Development/Business Automation/Shariah Dept);
  • Roll-out and manage marketing campaigns, schemes or initiative programs to promote and grow BCB-i Trade Finance business.
  • Ensure Trade Finance products compliance to internal and external Regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Work together with Corporate Communications and other teams on marketing & communication plan and Value Based Intermediation initiatives, including identifying and arranging for participation in exhibitions, conferences and other events to enhance the Bank's visibility.

Managerial (team/group responsibilities)
  • Managing the internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting and assisting the head in running the Unit.
  • Assist the Head in training junior staff.

Organizational (organizational responsibilities)
  • Providing updates to the management via reports, supporting the team, group initiatives and when required.
  • Act as main liaison to Business Centers on Islamic structures, and terms and conditions.
  • Main Trade liaison person for HLISB in communicating with HLBB.

Education/Qualification
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance or Commerce-related Degree.
  • Chartered Banker.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of working in Trade Finance Sales / Client Relationship / Corp Bkg or Trade Operations environment.
  • Certificate in Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to work well in a team, inspire colleagues with good work ethics.
  • Ability to manage customers, build good rapport and long-term relationship with customers.
  • Good understanding of client needs.
  • Strong analytical grasp of the workings in Trade Finance.
