About This Role

Support in driving efficiency, governance, accuracy in reporting and innovation across finance operations through the optimization of processes, systems, and technologies. The role bridges finance and business stakeholders with technological solutions to ensure robust governance frameworks, compliance, data integrity and operational excellence. Accountable for review consolidated financial results, provide insights and valuable analysis to drive informed decision-making and business performance for PLI Group, while working closely with PETRONAS Group Financial Control to ensure compliance with PETRONAS Group Accounting Policies, Procedures and Guidelines ("GAPG"), companies act and other relevant accounting standards. In addition, manage financial data integrity for accuracy of financial reporting through maintaining a proper financial master data governance. Promoting finance system transformation by driving innovation and improvement through adoption of technologies, process simplification and maintenance of financial system architecture.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Consolidated Financial Reporting and Financial Performance analysis
    • Review financial results for PLI Group's entities, working with PETRONAS Group Financial Control. Highlight concerns to management and regional finance heads to support informed decision-making and action plans.
  2. Financial Master Data Governance
    • Ensure financial data accuracy by monitoring quality, correcting issues in the source system, and training key users on best practices for reporting. Manage financial master data by overseeing its creation, maintenance, and deletion.
  3. Financial System and Process Solutions
    • Support innovation in finance systems and processes by adopting new technology, simplifying workflows, and improving productivity. Act as a link between finance, IT, and other departments to align processes and technology, ensuring business needs are met. Focus on improving PLI’s operations by standardizing, simplifying, and automating processes, enhancing data quality, and recommending solutions to leadership for cost optimization and better alignment with PETRONAS Group practices.
  4. Financial Accounting Advisory
    • Provide consultative advice with the support of PETRONAS Group Financial Control to the PLI Group and functions in relation to accounting treatment of business transaction and adoption of new accounting standards, companies act and other statutory requirements.
  5. PLISB Headquarters Cost Analysis
    • Monitor and manage PLI Group HQ costs, including actual, forecast, and budget submissions. Analyze variances, track utilization, and ensure compliance with the business plan while identifying cost-saving opportunities. Work with core functions to prepare accurate monthly and budgeted cost reports with proper provisions and accruals for better cost control. Handle HQ cost calculations for back-charges to subsidiaries, such as management and SAP user fees, and oversee the collection of these fees according to the Master Service Agreement (MSA).

Qualification & Experiences

  • Strong finance foundation, with recognized Degree in Accounting and/or Finance. Preferably possesses professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, ICAEW, ICAA or CPA).
  • Strong knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Companies Act, Income Tax.
  • Working experience of at least 5 - 10 years with considerable knowledge, experience and / or exposure in finance operations, governance, or systems implementation roles. Experience in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) will be an advantage.
  • Preferably to have deep knowledge and understanding across different finance disciplines in various business sectors within the Oil and Gas and lubricant industry. Driving transformation by simplifying processes for process excellence.
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with good written and verbal communication skills as well as presentations skill.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Willing to work a rotational schedule to accommodate global and diverse teams with different time zone.
  • Able to work under stress and multi-task to meet competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced culture.
  • Must be a dynamic and self-starting individual who is able to work independently or as part of a team with minimal guidance and direction.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile).
