Job Summary:

  • This is a full-time on-site role for an ESG Analyst in Kuala Lumpur. The ESG Analyst will be responsible for analyzing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data to identify investment opportunities and making investment recommendations based on their findings. The ESG Analyst is part of the Research team and will work collaboratively with other members of the team to produce ESG thematic reports. The ESG Analyst will also work closely with the Sales team to market his/her research findings to institutional investor clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed ESG thematic reports, research notes and presentations as well as publish regular updates on ESG trends and implications for investment strategies and assess industry trends, regulatory developments and emerging ESG issues.
  • Establish relationships and work closely with institutional clients e.g., organise meetings / knowledge sharing / presentations / visits / event / conference, providing ESG insights and answering queries.
  • Build and maintain relationships with ESG data providers and industry experts.
  • Review quantitative and qualitative ESG data from multiple information sources including annual reports, sustainability reports, websites and other filings of publicly-traded companies.
  • Work collaboratively with the equity analysts and economics analysts to incorporate ESG factors into investment theses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in ESG analysis within the Investment Banking, Financial Consulting or Asset Management industries.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including experience in financial modelling, statistical analysis, and data visualisation tools.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management software, such as Bloomberg, FactSet and Reuters, and familiarity with ESG data platforms (e.g., Sustainalytics, MSCI ESG Manager and Bloomberg ESG).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Research team to produce ESG thematic reports.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, ESG certification, or equivalent are preferred.
