Role Overview:

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) processes and programs to support the organization’s business strategy. This role ensures that all operations comply with regulatory requirements, ISO standards, and best practices while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies tailored to the organization's operations, ensuring alignment with local and international regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, standards, and codes of practice, conducting regular audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for all operational processes, particularly those involving chemical handling and storage, and implement effective control measures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Lead investigations into HSE incidents, accidents, or near misses, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Design and deliver HSE training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and the proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for potential HSE emergencies, including chemical spills or exposures.
  • Oversee waste management practices, pollution control measures, and sustainability initiatives to minimize the organization's environmental footprint.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to HSE, providing regular reports to senior management and recommending improvements.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and technological advancements in HSE management, integrating relevant innovations into the organization's HSE programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management within the chemical industry, demonstrating a strong track record of implementing effective HSE programs.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices specific to the chemical sector, including OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency in HSE management systems and software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels in fostering a positive safety culture.
