Nobel International School Sdn Bhd – Petaling

The English Transition Programme Teacher is responsible for delivering tailored English language instruction to students transitioning from non-English speaking backgrounds into mainstream academic programmes. The teacher will provide targeted support to improve students' proficiency in English and help them adjust to the academic, social, and cultural aspects of the school.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery

  1. Develop and deliver engaging and effective English language lessons tailored to students' needs.
  2. Focus on core language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  3. Implement a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  4. Design and adapt curriculum materials that align with the learning goals of the Transition Programme.
  5. Integrate content from core academic subjects (e.g., Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Commerce) to help students improve both their language and content-area knowledge.

Assessment and Monitoring

  1. Assess students' English language proficiency and track their progress throughout the programme.
  2. Conduct formative and summative assessments to measure students’ development in English language skills.
  3. Provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians on progress.

Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs)

  1. Develop ILPs for students to target specific areas for language development and academic readiness.
  2. Collaborate with subject teachers and counselors to ensure alignment between the Transition Programme and mainstream curriculum.

Cultural and Social Integration

  1. Support students in adapting to the social and cultural environment of the school.
  2. Promote inclusion by helping students participate in school-wide activities and events.
  3. Facilitate group discussions and activities that encourage cross-cultural understanding.

Parent and Community Engagement

  1. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to keep them informed of their child’s/ward’s progress.
  2. Organise information sessions for parents/guardians to help them understand the goals and structure of the Transition Programme.

Programme Evaluation and Improvement

  1. Provide feedback on the Transition Programme and contribute to its ongoing development and improvement.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in English, Linguistics, or a related field.
  2. ESL/TESOL/TEFL certification preferred.
  3. At least 2 years of teaching experience, ideally in EAL or English instruction for students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
  4. Experience in curriculum development and assessment for English language learners.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to differentiate instruction based on individual learning needs.
  7. Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
