POSITION SUMMARY: The Failure Analysis (FA) engineer supports the Failure Analysis Engineering function by the product process review, enhancing and developing the analysis method to monitor field quality data for accuracy and consistency. Performs engineering work in basic and applied research, development, design of new products and/or sustaining of existing products as well. Provides support to factory and design, giving useful feedback to help solve failures. Acts as a bridge between supplier, design, and factory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, modifies, and evaluates electronic apparatus components or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices.
Creates, modifies, sustains, and maintains software for testing. Verifies and improves test coverage.
Designs and modifies the test fixture to meet and improve product quality and decrease operational costs by detecting (CA/PA) failures as early as possible.
Designs power supply circuits based on previously used topologies to meet specific parameters, including loop stability, magnetic design, and worst-case component analysis.
Understands new product release and engineering change procedures to support products during and after their transition into manufacturing.
Participates in yield and continuous improvement actions.
Provides product test field failure analysis support. Performs simulation and evaluation, duplicates field-detected failures, and provides Root Cause Analysis and RCCA.
Supports customer field failure analysis. Attends customer meetings to present findings and provide effective RCCA and related preventative actions.
Responsible for coordinating and delivering daily Failure Analysis WIP turnaround for production fulfillment, including Top-Level Assembly (TLA) and In Source Sub Assembly.
Leads a group of technicians, coordinating Failure Analysis output based on customer demand. Provides training to FA technicians to ensure competency in the allocated Product Platform.
Establishes and maintains Failure Analysis Data pool, generates/enhances Failure Analysis Guidelines to improve productivity and accuracy. Drives yield improvement with various departments such as Production/Hybrid/Test/Process/SQE/Quality.
Communicates with Product Development/Engineering teams for any unknown or hardcore failures for resolution within the shortest time.
Acts as a core player in NPI/New derivative Part Number introduction. Performs Failure Analysis for unknown technical issues and communicates with Product Development/Engineering teams for resolution quickly.
Provides disposition of defective parts in MRB meetings. Makes engineering decisions for Rework, RTV, and Scrap with engineering data support.
Serves as custodian for FA Non-Netting Inventory. Responsible for inventory accuracy and periodic counts upon request from the Inventory Team.
Adheres to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
