This position reports to: Head of Rewards

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Administrator to oversee and manage our employee benefits program across the entire organization. This role provides specialized guidance and support to managers and employees on various benefit plans, ensuring our offerings remain competitive within the industry. The successful candidate will develop, recommend, and implement new or modified benefit plans and policies, while also supervising the administration of existing plans. A key focus of this role will be to develop cost control procedures that maximize coverage for employees while minimizing costs to the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including medical, life insurance, accidental/life death policies, employee leave, and other benefits offered by the company.
  2. Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers through industry surveys and other sources. Develop specific recommendations based on survey analysis for management review.
  3. Develop specifications for new or modified benefit plans to maintain the company’s competitive market position and standardize benefit packages across all company locations where possible.
  4. Investigate and implement effective methods to communicate benefits information to employees, including creating brochures, materials, and articles for publications.
  5. Evaluate benefit quotations, develop cost-sharing recommendations, and advise management on cost-effective benefit solutions.
  6. Implement approved new plans and changes by preparing and distributing communication materials. Conduct employee meetings, enroll employees in optional plans, and facilitate employee benefit seminars.
  7. Regularly update and reissue benefit communication materials. Provide advice and counsel to management and employees on existing benefit offerings.
  8. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to employee benefits. Prepare and submit necessary reports and applications to relevant agencies, and stay informed on changes in laws affecting benefits.
  9. Ensure that benefit programs are compatible with standardized computer and reporting systems. Develop benefit information and statistical data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management.
  10. Develop and implement wellness strategies, initiatives, and programs to promote employee health and well-being.
  11. Handle benefit inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and equitable resolution. Maintain contact with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper utilization of benefits.
  12. Supervise the maintenance of human resources records, including enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in employee benefits administration or a related HR function.
  3. In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs, insurance policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate benefit plans and make cost-effective recommendations.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to employees and management.
  6. Proficiency in using HRIS systems and benefits administration software.
  7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve benefit-related issues.
  10. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
