Job description

To lead the technical aspects of solar EPCC bidding processes, ensuring high-quality proposals that meet client needs, mitigate risks, and align with project feasibility, while providing technical support to business development in the Asia Pacific region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To play a crucial role in the large scale solar EPCC bidding process, leveraging the expertise to deliver high-quality EPCC proposals to our clients. This position will be based in Kuala Lumpur and provide technical support to the business development team in the Asia Pacific Region including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, etc. Short business trips will be required for proposal presentation and clarification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tender Document Study and Preparation: To analyze the terms within solar EPCC bidding documents, examples such as: DC/AC ratio, performance ratio, panel, module mounting structure, inverter technical specifications, performance ratio requirements, and delivery schedules. Identify potential technical risks and deviations, and subsequently prepare a bidding technical proposal that satisfies client needs while mitigating risks to ensure competitiveness and feasibility.
  2. Client Communication and Requirements Understanding: Assist in conducting comprehensive site surveys and assessments to determine the feasibility of solar power projects. To clarify specific technical demands from clients and understand proposal evaluation criteria.
  3. Internal Coordination and Preparation of Technical Bid Documents: As the lead for the technical proposal, coordinate among internal technical teams (design, R&D, implementation, etc.) to revise and optimize the proposal as per client’s requirements.
  4. Preparation of RFQ Documents and Supplier Engagement: Prepare detailed Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents for suppliers and subcontractors such as local design consultants, HV work subcontractors, road subcontractors, etc. The RFQ will include technical specifications and quality standards, followed by technical exchanges with suppliers and contractors to secure precise quotations. Maintaining ongoing technical communication with suppliers fosters cooperation essential for subsequent project execution.
  5. Contract Negotiation and Technical Review: Engage in detailed discussions and negotiations with clients on technical contract clauses to ensure alignment with the company’s interests and project requirements. Conduct thorough reviews of technical documents for accuracy and completeness to mitigate risks of misunderstandings or disputes during execution.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years working experience in solar industry.
  • Software Skills: Mandatory – AutoCAD, PVSyst, and MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Good command in Mandarin (is an added advantage) as need to communicate with stakeholders speaking Mandarin.
