Driving & Vehicle Operation:
Safely operate a lorry (heavy goods vehicle).
Ensure the vehicle is well-maintained, performing routine checks (e.g., tire pressure, oil levels).
Adhere to traffic laws, speed limits, and road safety regulations.
Loading & Unloading:
Load and unload goods, ensuring they are securely placed to avoid damage during transport.
Operate cranes or forklifts to assist with loading/unloading, if required.
Route Planning & Navigation:
Plan routes to meet delivery schedules and avoid delays (e.g., construction zones, traffic).
Follow GPS instructions and may rely on maps for remote or unfamiliar areas.
Adjust routes as necessary in case of detours or road closures.
Communication & Coordination:
Communicate with dispatchers to report delivery status and any issues encountered.
Keep the company informed of any delays, incidents, or mechanical issues.
Work with warehouse staff or delivery teams to coordinate the timely unloading of goods.
Compliance:
Ensure that all legal documentation is completed (e.g., delivery notes, invoices).
Maintain a clean driving record and comply with regulations concerning working hours and driving limits.
Complete daily log books or digital tracking systems as required by law.
Safety & Maintenance:
Maintain a high standard of safety when driving, including checking that the load is secure and the vehicle is in good condition.
Perform basic maintenance checks and take the vehicle for servicing when required.
Customer Service:
Provide excellent service to clients by delivering goods on time and handling any inquiries professionally.
May be required to interact with clients during delivery or pick-up.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License: Class C or equivalent, depending on the region.
Experience: 1-2 years experience.
Physical Fitness: The job requires lifting heavy goods, so physical stamina is essential.
Knowledge of Road Safety: Familiarity with road regulations and traffic laws.
Good Communication: Ability to report accurately to supervisors and work well with team members.
Problem-solving: Ability to think on your feet when faced with delays or road problems.
