Conduct in-depth economic surveillance and assessment as well as structural analysis, study and policy research relating to the current account to support the overall macroeconomic assessment, enhance understanding of structural development and emerging risks and draft policy proposals that would promote sound and sustainable external position.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Conduct in-depth surveillance of the current account and assist in continuously improving the monitoring process to ensure the delivery of rigorous, timely and relevant economic assessments and forecasts.
Monitor and analyse the current account conditions and developments to identify impending structural risks and issues in the external sector, particularly on the current account for the attention of the Management on a timely basis.
Conduct research or topical studies on the current account and other related areas in the external sector or economy to identify areas of potential vulnerability/opportunity and draft policy proposals for consideration of the department.
Develop new leading indicators relating to the current account aimed at enhancing macroeconomic surveillance and projections to facilitate a better assessment of risks and outlook of the external sector for policy responses.
Collaborate with other government agencies, industry players, chambers/associations to build rapport and improve understanding on other agencies’ plans to tackle issues affecting the current account performance and developments affecting the current account.
Communicate clearly and objectively to Management assessment and policy proposals from internal surveillance and research initiatives. Draft the Bank’s communication to various external stakeholders, including briefing to Ministers and responses to issues raised by multilateral development institutions, rating agencies, investors, media and the general public and drafts for the Bank’s publication.
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications: Hons. Degree/Master in Economics.
