Job description

Job Purpose:

The Quality Manager will be responsible for implementing quality control strategies to ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and customer expectations. This role involves leading QPCP, managing the quality control team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet goals, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure the safety and efficiency of processes while managing resources, personnel, and processes to optimize quality scale-up and minimize costs and waste.

Key Accountabilities:

Quality Development:

  • Develop & collaborate with the supply chain team to evaluate potential supplier selection and ensure the suppliers meet quality requirements, including conducting supplier audits and assessing their quality system effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal/external teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain incoming/outgoing monthly quality acceptance rates.
  • Implement a comprehensive quality program to ensure consistency and alignment with company objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System and Quality Assurance (QA) programs in compliance with all ISO standards and regulatory QMS requirements.

Team Management and Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise quality staff, including inspectors, lab assistants, lab technicians, team leads, and engineers, to ensure adherence to real-time quality standards.
  • Motivate team members and create a positive work environment.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate product quality goals, provide updates on performance, and solicit feedback from team members.

Quality Control and Assurance:

  • Collaborate with R&D to develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Lead QAQC to establish and maintain a robust quality management system, including documentation of quality procedures, specifications, and inspection criteria.

Quality Improvement and Efficiency:

  • Identify opportunities for quality improvements to increase effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Use Six Sigma or equivalent methodology and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline quality processes and eliminate waste.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles, such as value stream mapping, 5S, and Kaizen, to drive continuous improvement and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor process performance and track improvements over time.
  • Drive internal quality continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for improvement and working with peers related to departmental HOD to implement necessary changes.
  • Define, develop, and implement new/maintain existing methods and practices to improve product quality and ensure company compliance with required specifications and product safety implementation rules.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate safety concerns.
  • Work closely with the EHS team.

Risk Assessment Management:

  • Coordinate and identify potential risks associated with internal/external quality and develop strategies to eliminate risks, including conducting risk assessments and implementing contingency plans to minimize disruptions to the quality chain.
  • Conduct management meetings with the product assurance program department to establish, delineate, and review program organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish controls and procedures for attaining goals.

KPI Control:

  • Lead the team to meet KPI company quality requirements and drive systems, ensuring successful and effective application of all quality standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and analysis of skill competency performance metrics and team member capabilities on quality management skills.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain reporting systems and processes to track key KPI quality metrics, including product quality performance and yield measures.
  • Analyze SMART tool data to track quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Report the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with other departments, such as maintenance, engineering, production, and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align goals with overall company objectives.

Ad hoc tasks assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in ISO quality management systems, process/quality validation, auditing, and quality improvement methodology (ISO 9002, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, 7 QC tools, SPC tools, FMEA, GR&R, 8D, Why-why methodology, Advanced Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge or certification and TS 16949 will be an advantage.
