Job Summary

The role of the Contracts and Commercial Assistant Manager (M&E) is pivotal in overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of the Mechanical & Electrical system related works of a project. The candidate should possess extensive expertise in contract management, project cost control, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.


Key Responsibilities

Pre-contract stage:

  1. Preparation of tenders including calling for quotations, cost estimates, etc.
  2. Assist C&C Manager in preparation for cost plan.
  3. Compilation of tender documentation/award and calling for tenders.
  4. Establish supply chain and vendors for sub-trade and sub-labour procurement.

Post-contract Stage:
  1. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions across all stages of the project.
  2. Manage contractual risks by identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions.
  3. Manage and administer variations, claims, and extensions of time (EOT).
  4. Assist to prepare contract close-out documentation and ensure proper handover.
  5. Develop strategies to optimize cash flow and project profitability.
  6. Evaluate and control project costs to avoid overruns.
  7. Manage procurement and subcontracts to ensure compliance with budget and timelines.
  8. Manage commercial risks and opportunities, including value engineering.
  9. Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure smooth project execution.
  10. Assist and coordinate with the legal and finance teams to address contractual and payment issues.
  11. Assist and support the Manager/Senior Manager with commercial insights to meet delivery targets.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Skills & Abilities

  1. Strong understanding of M&E or MEP systems and construction processes.
  2. Expertise in contract negotiation, administration, and claims management.
  3. Proficient in cost management tools and software (e.g., SAP Ariba, Autodesk, Excel).
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Expected Minimum Years Of Experience

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial and contract management, focusing on M&E or MEP projects.
