Network Technician

Title: Datacenter Network L0

Responsibilities:

1. 1-2 years of experience as a low voltage or data center technician.
2. Must be able to take direction from Engineer for tasks.
3. Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
4. Ability to understand and execute runbook procedures in accordance with steps provided.
5. Exceptional communication skills.
6. Willingness to document real-time steps in ticketing system and provide updates as requested by teams.
7. Must be comfortable with heights, working from 12’ and smaller ladders, scissor and articulating boom lifts as required.
8. Must provide and be comfortable working while wearing PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Vest, Steel Toe Shoes, Eye protection, etc).
9. Must provide own tools to include laptop, cell phone camera, hotspot, fiber cleaning supplies.
10. Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors.
11. Willingness to respond to network and server errors after hours.
12. Basic computer skills are required.
13. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
14. Ability to install different types of hardware (e.g., Servers, Routers, Switches, Security Cameras, WAPs with cabling).
15. Proficient in running, terminating, and installing IT cabling (Cat5, Cat6, Coaxial, and Fiber Optics).
16. Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables. Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
17. Will perform fire-stopping procedures on firewalls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
18. Copper testing, troubleshooting, and termination experience.
19. Install grounding for server racks, equipment, and cable, as required.
20. Monitoring and performing ongoing maintenance on servers and network equipment.
21. Basic understanding of fiber cable and testing equipment.
22. Assist in creation of mass labels and apply per Port map.
23. Providing IT support to staff and customers, as well as responding to server and network device issues.
24. Protecting company data by preventing the overheating of data center components.
25. Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing parts in a timely manner.
26. Collaborating with software and network engineering teams on cybersecurity and network efficiency.
27. Monitoring all network processes to ensure the smooth flow of data across the network.
