THE OPPORTUNITY
The holder of this position supports the Sales Manager and Team Leader. S/he will be responsible for driving exhibition and sponsorship sales for SPE events and its associated brands – including international, regional and topical events - such as conferences, exhibitions, sponsorship, symposiums, workshops and forums. S/he will deliver sales to targets and also have sales and administrative responsibilities for publications, advertisements, and digital events/programmes, if assigned.

- Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) established for both individual and team goals.
- Drive Sales Growth: Spearhead sales for exhibitions and sponsorships by proactively reaching out to clients through cold calls, meetings, and networking.
- Strategize for Success: Develop and execute tailored sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and contribute to the overall success of the sales team.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with clients, prospects, and industry stakeholders to generate new business opportunities.
- Sales Process Ownership: Manage the complete sales cycle, from lead generation to closing contracts, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction throughout the process.
- Industry Research: Identify and research new business opportunities within the energy sector and related industries.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Support the Sales Manager and Team Lead by contributing to overall lead generation and revenue growth for SPE and its related brands.
- Performance Tracking: Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to management on progress towards targets.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, event operations, and project teams to maximize promotional efforts and deliver high-quality events.
- Event Representation: Attend industry events and exhibitions to network, promote our offerings, and identify potential clients.
- Market Insight: Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity to maintain a competitive edge.
- Team Support: Assist the Director of Events, Asia Pacific, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful events.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
- Degree holder or equivalent;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B event or exhibition sales, preferably within:
- Primary: Oil & Gas, Energy, Engineering, Defence
- Secondary: Medical, Healthcare, Technology, Manufacturing, Mining
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong experience in exhibition or sponsorship sales; knowledge of the energy sector is a plus.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
- Collaborative, with experience working across various teams and stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and colleagues.
- Able to meet multiple deadlines, solve practical challenges, and adapt in situations with minimal guidelines or established procedures.
ADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
- Strong verbal and written English skills required.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, or other regional languages is a plus.
- Ability to present confidently and clearly to individuals and groups, including clients, sponsors, and colleagues.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems; able to adapt to other software as needed.
- Willingness to travel internationally for client meetings, event preparation, and onsite duties (approximately 30% of the time).
