Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Manager, GL Reporting to join our finance team at MR DIY HQ. This role is responsible for overseeing General Ledger (GL) reporting, preparing monthly management reports, conducting variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, ideally with experience in both audit and commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the financial reporting team in monthly closing and reporting for all entities.
- Assist in consolidating and preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts, financial statements, and any other financial reports to ensure timely submission and compliance with relevant governing rules and standards such as Finance Reporting Standard, Companies Act, and Bursa requirements.
- Assist in preparation and updates of forecasts and budgets on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of general accounting and reporting, fixed assets, and statutory reporting (report preparation & reconciliation).
- Manage and coordinate the reconciliation of respective systems to ensure any discrepancies or variations are investigated and corrected.
- Liaise with tax agents, auditors, company secretaries, bankers, lawyers, and authorities on related matters.
- Assist in ad hoc projects/assignments assigned by superior from time to time.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is a plus).
- 5 years of experience in GL reporting, financial accounting, or auditing, ideally with a mix of audit (Big 4 or equivalent) and commercial experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in monthly management reporting, financial analysis, and variance analysis.
- Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in accounting systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
