DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Pre-Drilling Phase:
    1. Site Assessment: Conduct geological surveys and geophysical studies to identify suitable locations for tubewell drilling.
    2. Data Analysis: Analyze subsurface data, soil, and rock samples to determine aquifer potential and water quality.
    3. Preparation of Reports: Provide feasibility reports, hydrogeological maps, and drilling plans based on geological studies.
  2. Drilling Phase:
    1. Supervision: Oversee drilling operations to ensure alignment with geological predictions and project specifications.
    2. Sample Collection: Collect and analyze drill cuttings, core samples, and water samples to monitor aquifer properties.
    3. Log Maintenance: Maintain detailed borehole logs, including lithology, depth, and water strike levels.
    4. Geophysical Logging: Conduct and interpret geophysical logging to identify aquifer zones and confirm well integrity.
  3. Development Phase:
    1. Aquifer Testing: Oversee well development activities, including pumping tests (step-drawdown, constant discharge) to evaluate aquifer yield and transmissivity.
    2. Water Quality Testing: Analyze water samples for chemical, physical, and biological parameters to ensure compliance with standards.
    3. Rehabilitation Measures: Suggest remedial measures if drilling encounters geological challenges like hard rock, clay layers, or poor aquifer yield.
  4. Post-Development Phase:
    1. Reporting: Compile comprehensive geological and hydrogeological reports summarizing the findings, challenges, and outcomes of the drilling work.
    2. Monitoring: Recommend and establish monitoring mechanisms for groundwater levels and quality in the area.
    3. Environmental Compliance: Ensure that the project adheres to environmental regulations and minimizes ecological impacts.
  5. General Responsibilities:
    1. Coordination: Collaborate with resident engineer, consultant team, hydrologists, and project managers to align geological insights with technical and operational needs.
    2. Problem-Solving: Provide on-site solutions for unexpected geological conditions or drilling difficulties.
    3. Documentation: Ensure all geological data, logs, and reports are accurately recorded and archived for future reference.
    4. Any other tasks assigned by the Top Management/Project Manager/Superior from time to time.
