Accountable to: Head, Group Finance Operations on financial and management reporting matters. Duties include leading the Group Financial Reporting in ensuring that all statutory and management financial reporting are in compliance with relevant applicable accounting standards (MFRS and IFRS), Companies Act 2016, Bursa Listing Requirements, BNM guidelines and any other regulatory guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive an efficient Financial Reporting deliverables for management decision making as well as for regulatory submissions.
Drive comprehensive groupwide accounting policy documents for seamless reporting and decision making:
Accountable for accuracy and timeliness of the Group Financial Reporting (including but not limited to, annual statutory financial statements and reports, quarterly announcement/report) with full compliance to regulatory reporting requirements and in line with industry best practices (Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission, as well as submission to other regulatory bodies).
Manage the entire range of monthly, quarterly and annual submission processes to GMC, BAC, Board, BNM, Bursa and Department of Statistics.
Oversight of day to day operations and management reporting of RHB Bank Berhad, RHB Islamic Bank, active, semi-dormant & dormant subsidiaries - key area of work include the closing and preparation of monthly management accounts and external financial reporting.
Maintaining complete worksheets on competitive industry performance, statutory deck and financial analysis and market/industry data to ascertain Group’s performance against industry.
Support management on business with a sharp focus on the management information, business deliverables and performance targets:
Provide a comprehensive assessment on overall Group performance for both internal and external reporting.
Support and collaborate with various SBG and SFG to deliver their business objectives, eg. Treasury’s Murex implementation/upgrade, HR’s SGS, etc.
Ensure that Group Financial Reporting work closely with all departments within Group Finance, businesses and IT on UAT and testing of systems and pre-live reports prior to any new systems/products being launched.
Responsible for proforma scenario building and financial modeling for Group fund raising and any corporate finance activities.
Member of the Product Review Committee as part of business development as Finance alternate representative to provide and advise on accounting entries and financial implications for new products / product variations, prior to roll-out.
Provide deep insights into financial impact arising from new issuances of accounting standards, and summarise effects for presentation to BAC and Management. Also, develop templates and working files for all entities where applicable.
Assist and guiding regional offices on any ad hoc projects, to be in line with HQ and as may be determined from time to time.
Lead annual reporting process:
Ensure annual financial statements are in compliance with all regulatory and accounting standards requirement.
Drive annual audit and limited review activities with external auditors. Plan, facilitate and manage the Group’s annual statutory audit process to ensure timely completion of annual audit and approval of group financial statements.
Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditors’ agreement with group decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues.
Lead the Financial Reporting team in any new issuance of accounting pronouncements:
Manage the technical aspects of financial reporting such as to provide guidance and/or advice to other departments on accounting issues or treatments of transactions. Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to all entities and subsidiaries.
Develop the Group’s accounting policies and implementation of new accounting policies based on new MFRS and BNM guideline.
Provide guidance to the finance team locally and foreign subsidiaries on new accounting requirement and development.
Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards to ensure regulatory compliance.
Continuous improvement in workflow processes:
Drive process improvement and initiatives that impact the function to improve workflow and team performance.
Review existing workflow and propose improvement to increase efficiency, where applicable.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls on overall financial reporting, where applicable.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
Professional accreditation i.e., MIA, MICPA, ACCA or CPA is preferable.
Minimum 10 years of experience in reporting with a minimum 3 years as Head of Financial Reporting.
Experience in financial services industry is preferred.
Strong reporting and financial services knowledge.
A self-starter with strong managerial and leadership capability to initiate and drive the team.
Ability to provide management and financial related advisory on banking transactions, capital raising and internally on business related transactions/opportunities both propriety and with customers.
Hands on experience in preparing Group Consolidated Accounts and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Resourceful, ability to work with team members and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
