Assistant Vice President, Group Corporate Communications


Job Purpose:

  • PR & Media Relations

- PR & Media Management for Businesses, Enablers and Group-wide initiatives to maintain/enhance Group’s brand value.

  • Group Annual Report

- Manage end-to-end production of CIMB Group’s Annual Report.

- Facilitate CIMB’s participation in suitable local and regional awards.


Job Responsibilities:

  • PR & Media Relations
  • Support Regional Head, Group Corporate Communications in implementing an integrated local and regional communications strategy for Group CEO and the CIMB Group.
  • Develop, implement and manage effective communication plans (e.g., key messages and proof points) and media-related activities to support CIMB Group’s Businesses/Business Enablers (as stipulated by Director), in cooperation with them and their official partners.
  • Draft, edit and prepare communication packs and/or press kits for CIMB Group (including key messages, FAQs, presentation decks etc).
  • Manage communications with stakeholders for CIMB Group.
  • Help manage issues and crisis communications for the Group.
  • Maintain a good working relationship/ continually engage with the media.
  • Any other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the Management from time to time.
  • Annual Report
  • Manage with all necessary stakeholders the end-to-end production of CIMB’s annual reports, and publication of Notice of AGM to be on time and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of an on-going reporting framework with stakeholders.
  • Manage the planning and preparation for the annual report i.e. budget, procurement, admin, etc.
  • Awards
  • Facilitate CIMB's participation in suitable local and regional awards, ensuring that the awards are vetted for merit and credibility, and that CIMB's entries are prepared to a high standard.
  • Identify suitable award opportunities for CIMB.

Required Competencies and Skills:

  • Degree in any field.
  • 5 years of experience in marketing and communications.
  • Communications, media, journalism or related fields is an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills, especially writing and editing skills.
  • Good project management, strategic planning and organising skills.
  • Understanding of banking products and services is a plus.
  • Good understanding of strategic communications.
  • Understanding of the workings of broadcast, print and digital media.
