Job Description

The Team

The Core Apps Platform team is responsible for the core architecture, infrastructure, operational practices, and design capabilities that enable our Candidate domain teams to deliver high quality mobile experiences for our SEEK, JobsDB, and Jobstreet mobile apps, serving jobseekers across APAC.

Our ambition is to deliver world class apps that delight our customers by enabling teams to build consistent, beautiful, reliable, and secure apps at scale.

The team currently consists of approximately 30 passionate SEEKers across two sub-teams (iOS and Android). Each sub-team being a multi-functional, distributed, agile team of engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts spread across Australia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.

About the role

As a Senior iOS Engineer you will play a key technical role evolving the iOS app platform through the delivery of frameworks, patterns, tooling, and best practices to enable our teams to deliver a high-quality mobile experience.

We are looking for dedicated engineers with customer focus, passion for mobile app design, and that share our philosophy for highly maintainable software engineering.

You will be responsible for driving the technical alignment, engineering quality, and delivery of reliable and scalable software. You will also coach/mentor software engineers, improve the engineering practices of the team, and contribute to enabling an inclusive team culture supportive of learning and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities

Build

1. Lead and guide other engineers to build, test, deploy and maintain high quality scalable and reliable software from development to production aligned to SEEK’s engineering practices.
2. Improve and maintain platform health, ensuring that our systems are reliable, resilient, and efficient.
3. Troubleshoot and manage production incidents through resolution.
4. Co-drive the design & delivery of platform and back-end experience APIs.

Execute

1. Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns and tooling.
2. Lead improvements to the Apps Platform tooling, continuous delivery pipeline, operational and engineering practices.
3. Improve the engineering, quality practices, devops culture, agile delivery rituals and strengthen team capabilities.
4. Actively connect with others in an effective, timely, and empathic manner.
5. Manage risks effectively ensuring they are communicated, managed, and mitigated appropriately.
6. Improve understanding of our apps platform users and our SEEK customers considering their needs in all aspects of development.

Qualifications

Experience

1. Engineering and maintaining high quality architecture, user experience, and long-lived codebases for commercial-scale iOS Apps.
2. Architecting, building, and operating highly scalable, available, performant, and secure solutions with complex dependencies.
3. Leading engineering and technical solutions as part of a multi-functional team in an agile development environment.
4. Able to manage competing priorities, identify trade-offs/risks and manage technical and non-technical partner expectations.
5. Experience upskilling, coaching, and developing junior engineers.
6. Able to coordinate, influence, motivate, and empower others to achieve outcomes.

Technical Skills

Essential

1. Experienced in developing highly scalable, available, performant, and secure native iOS Apps.
2. Knowledge of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming and practices in the iOS ecosystem.
3. Strong sense of software craftsmanship writes clean, testable, effective, and communicable code, driving team engineering principles.
4. Experience driving design of and integration with backend services and user behavior metrics.
5. Experienced in creating and maintaining continuous delivery pipelines using current practices, patterns, & tooling.
6. Familiarity with testing frameworks and test automation.
7. Experience with the operational deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management of mobile app releases (e.g. App DevOps, feature toggle management, A/B test management, and metrics monitoring).

Desirable

1. Practical experience with Swift, SwiftUI, XCTest, XCUITest, Grand Central Dispatch, multi variant applications, multi-module applications.
2. Familiar with GraphQL and Typescript.
3. Experience with library development and maintenance.
4. Using development and operational tools in the public cloud (preferably AWS).
5. Drives a culture of continuous improvement and inspires such pursuit in others.
6. Contributes and participates in user groups, meetups, conferences, and or open-source projects.
