SAFETY COORDINATOR

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Safety Coordinator to join our team at SPCO MARINE & OFFSHORE SDN. BHD. Based in Johor Bahru, Johor, this full-time role will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety and environmental compliance of our construction projects.

What you'll be doing

1. Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
2. Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification
3. Provide training and guidance to employees on safety protocols and best practices
4. Investigate and report on any incidents or accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
5. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA), Factories and Machinery Act 1967, and other relevant legislation as per DOSH guidelines.
6. Liaise with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with legal safety standards.
7. Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all aspects of construction activities
8. Maintain detailed records and documentation related to safety performance
9. Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
10. Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging safe work practices and a positive attitude towards safety among all workers.

What we're looking for

1. Must possess a valid OSH Coordinator Training Program Certificate from DOSH
2. Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety, environmental management or a related field
3. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role in the construction industry
4. Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with employees at all levels
6. Proactive, detail-oriented and committed to promoting a positive safety culture
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve safety objectives
